ip logging's off, comments are screened, anonymous is on also feel free to aim me @ grief seed or email me at agrandissmant @ gmail! ADDITIONAL NOTE: hetalia is a canon that can be very off-putting, to put it lightly, to some people. while i do make it a point to avoid (while also being conscious of) certain major historical occurrences, it is totally valid to not want to play with me regardless! if that's the case, please reply and i will steer clear with no complaints! |

(Anonymous) 2013-06-18 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)I'm a native speaker too, and I'm actually... not familiar with this one. I'll try looking around old books and let you know if I find anything similar. :)

(Anonymous) 2013-06-18 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)don't get in things without thinking (http://patarles.dainutekstai.lt/z/5df1101)
don't be too ...actually adventurous fits here (http://lietuvai.lt/wiki/Neb%C5%ABk_per_daug_aik%C5%A1tus_%E2%80%93_akis_i%C5%A1degsi!)
a whole bunch of various proverbs and riddles (http://lt.wikiquote.org/wiki/Lietuvi%C5%B3_patarl%C4%97s_ir_prie%C5%BEod%C5%BEiai)
Also the link you gave does have "nebūk per drąsus - akis išdegsi", which to me looks like what the original is aiming at, but the translation "Be not too bold, you will burn your eyes" is not absolute; it goes just as well with 'don't', and "drąsus" actually means "courageous" rather than "bold" but we don't actually have word for "adventurous" exactly, so...
I'M SORRY IF I'M JUST CONFUSING YOU! I'm trying to be helpful. |D;;
